Re: Reading and Writing Assignments 10/1/2015 12th class
Hi Cindy, I agree with you for exactly the reasons you name. His parents don't understand Jess's dreams, and they don't care about them. Mainly, they want Jess to do all the tasks they assign him. And I think you are right about the cause of their behavior. They are, indeed, very poor. I'm going to send you some additional comments via e-mail. LMF

Both in Bridge To Terabithia and Holes which has the similiar character Jess and Stanley. Firstly, they are students who are afraid of the bullies at the school. Secondly, they both live in poor families, and unable to make friends. In Bridge To Terabithia, at first, Jess was a week and unhelpful person, but sence he met Leslie, who is a new student, he became more imaginative and friendly. In Holes, at first, I just think Stanley is a big and 'stupid' child, but sence he went to Green Lake...

HI Alice, You did an excellent job citing specific details from the book. That is exactly what you needed to do for the assignment. And you are right about Stanley's transformation. He does start out seeming like "big and stupid" child. Fortunately, he does not end up that way.

Though the whole book, the two characters are all has some cause to undergo a big change. Jess has a big transformation because of a person. It’s because of Leslie come into his life. Leslie come into his life, make friend with him, chat with him, and build the Terabithia with him. Then she change Jess’ whole life and make him become optimistic. Stanley has a...

Hi Cindy, I like seeing you using words we have discussed in class, like optimistic. And you are certainly correct to identify Leslie as the source of Jess's transformation. It's interesting, too, that you have identified the general problem both boys have, an inability to handle social contact. I think that is quite right.
