Reading Assignment: Chapters 1-3 in Sounder

Writing Assignment: Below is the draft for a brief passage. It's purposely disjointed i.e. The sentences arouse expectations that don't get fulfilled by what follows. Revise the passage to make each sentence lead into the next and follow from the previous one. Also, look for occasional words with the wrong connotations for academic writing. Make sure to change them to something more formal.

Draft

¹Sara Louise in Jacob Have I Loved is a twin who resents the attention her prettier and more talented sister Caroline gets, seemingly without effort. ² They get along some of the time, but much of the time, the two gals go their separate ways. ³Cal is the guy Sarah spends most of her time with, and he is crucial to the story. ⁴ He never gets any of Sara’s jokes.
