Reading and Writing Assignment for 10/30

    I like to read "Maomao" this book very much. In this book, I like "Maomao" this character.

    At first, he is a good listener. When his friends happy or sad and say to him, he always listen to them attentively. When he/she finished talk, he/she will feel

happy.

    The next is, he has strong perseverance. If he determined to do something, he will keep doing it until it success.

    At last, he always be good to his friends. When his friends feel thirsty, he gave them some water. And he always lets his friends play in his house. His friends all like him.

    He is a good boy, I hope I can have a friend like him.

My favorite character is Percy Jackson, he was Poseidon’s son. In first book The Lightning Thief, Zeus think he steal the lighting, and make him must bring back the lightning back in ten days , but it was not him steal the lightning, it said how did him find the lightning and how did he bring back the lightning for the Zeus. I like Percy Jackson because he was very clever and he was good to make a plan, his best friend is Annabeth Chase and Grover, Grover is a half of sheep people, Annabeth is Olympia’s daughter. Annabeth away call him Seaweed Brain, I agree it because Percy sometime will make some very bad idea. I read all book for Percy Jackson (in Chinese), I like these book very much, and Percy is my favorite character.

@Mark, This is just wonderful. There are so many good things in it, I don't know where to start. But I'll try.

First off, I like that you used transitions like "At first" and "Next" to guide the readers attention to each new thing you liked. Second, wow, "perseverance," that's a word many Americans ten years older than you might not know. And you used it correctly.

Third, you were very specific about what you liked about the character. That's excellent.

And last but not least, your ending is terrific. I think ending a piece of writing is one of the hardest things to do. But twice in as row now, you have ended with what we in the States would call a "snappy ending." That means, you made it clear that you were at the end with a very clever final line. Wonderful work! Real thought went into this. 

@Cindy, This sounds like a very exciting book. I particularly like the title The Lightning Thief.  Based on how exciting the book sounds, I can see why you like the character of Percy. I would have liked to have heard a little more about what you liked about Percy, although  I understand you liked his cleverness and readiness to make a plan.

I wondered though if you liked him too because he was a "Seaweed Brain."That's a great detail. But I'm not sure if you liked him for that. Since you are so clever, I thought that might make you like Percy less.

I wondered too about the "sheep people"? Who were they? 

I gather the book bases its characters on the Greek gods, like Zeus, the King of the Gods, and Poseidon, ruler of the sea.  I have to look the book up to find out more about the author and the kind of book he writes.

I think you are not alone in being a fan of Harry Potter. And I can understand that you like him because he is fearLESS (NOTE SUFFIX) and cares more about protecting other people than himself.
