Write a paragraph or two comparing two of the novel's protagonists, Minnie and Abilene. Remember, though, to not just list similarities and differences. Instead, use the similarities and differences to make a point about the two women.
You might say, for example, that Abilene seemed the more timid of the two but proved herself to be as brave or braver. Then again, you might say that Minnie and Abilene were, in different ways, fighting against the Jim Crow laws that plagued the South at the time.
