Here are the words and definitions we went over in class today. Respond to this post by writing sentences with several of the new words.
- Villain = bad guy
- Chapter = section of a book; character= person in a story
- To consent = to say yes to someone; content = to be happy (CONtent = the inside materials of a book)
- Gracious = to be pleasantly kind and courteous. Characterized by good taste, comfort, ease, or luxury.
- Incinerator = a furnace for burning trash, garbage, etc., to ashes.
- Furiously = to do something passionately with urgency, or to do something very angrily.
- Dawdle = to waste time and move slowly.
- Scuttled = to run with quick, hasty steps; to scurry.
- liquid = anything that is in a form like water or gasoline or chocolate syrup (so not solid like ice and not gas like the air).
- ascend / descend = to go up / down a staircase or elevator.
- ludicrous = so foolish, unreasonable, or out of place as to be amusing; ridiculous.
- Repulsive = disgusting, horrific, nasty (I think kiwi is repulsive, but watermelon is delicious!)
