I think there are several changes of Stanley when he arrived at the camp green lake.

First, at first, Stanley stayed quiet. However, after knowing X-Ray is the leader of the group, he started to play up to him, and whatever he found, he would give X-Ray the first. He realized how to fit into the group and how to survive. Since X-Ray really appreciated him, his place changed to in front of Zero.

Second, he became glad to be called "caveman", for that means the group, at least X-Ray started to accept him.

Third, At first, he did not think that writing to his mom is a common thing. However, since everyone laughed at him about writing letter to his mother, he became really care about other people's thoughts, and would not write letter in front of other people.

Finally, he started to be afraid to say wrong things instead of to be so shy to stalk.

Stanley learned how to bear the pain and test, like the other boys. They should adjust their moods and accept difficulties all by themselves. Like one of the boys cried one night under the quilt. Stanley learned how to control how own moods of boring, hated and obeyed what the rules said. Like all the boys, they all didn't want to dig holes but they knew obeying the rules, otherwise you will accept the punishment. Stanley contacted with many kinds of people and he knew how to have dealings with them. But besides the powerful things that Stanley had learned from the boys, he also contacted with some bad things. Everyone followed X-ray, So Stanley did. Stanley knew that sometimes it was not fair in life. The life is very cruel, the only rule is who is the most powerful, who can command people to do things for them. Stanley knew how to tell lies. He told Mr. Sir that he stole the sunflower seeds instead of X-ray, because X-ray was the old. He told lies in the letter to her mom, because he didn't want to hurt his mom. These are not the real lies. They are white.
