For next week, please read chapters 7, 8, 9, 10, pages 100-160. This is a lot of pages for one week, so make sure you plan for more than enough time to read.

Then, answer the following question:

Consider Randy stepping out of the rumble and Ponyboy questioning the reason for fighting. Will their individual actions affect their entire gangs? In your opinion, can a change occur so dramatically at the individual level that it becomes widely accepted?

Hello, Audrey:

To the questions, I think their individual idea cannot affect their entire gangs. I could hard to imagine a person who is not considered by most of one gang can use his simple words to change the whole gang's idea. In my opinion, a person who is considered by most people in the gang and have deep impression to others. At this time, it's possible for a person to use his words to change others. Because his word is so impressive.

James' Homework:

I don't think their individual actions can affect their entire gangs. First , they are not the leaders, they don't have enough right to speak. A person with no right to speak can't lead the whole group or change the concept of the members. Sometimes even the leader can't change the old concept in a short time. Second , their class contradictions is very very difficult to resolve. I think the discriminate between the rich and the poor can not be resloved ever. Because many rich people think money is the tool to mark the rich and the poor. In some rich people's eye, people with money is the god and people without money is the trash, with money's help, even a ugly person like Quasimodo can be looked as Justin Biber. So i think think their individual actions can't affect their entire gangs.
