James' Homework:
A short review of ((Of Mice and Men))
First, this story happened in the 1930s in a farm in California. The farm is called Soledad. And I think this is the worst name I have ever heard. I think the word Soledad sounds like"soul dead". People in my hometown often say"You can be killed, your deadbody can be rotted. But your soul must living in this world forever." But this farm is called "Soledad", so I think this is the worst name I've ever heard. In my opinion, a person without soul is even useless than Solomon Grundy. If my memory is correct, soledad means indifference and dismal in Spainish. So that is another reason why I hate this name. And it indicates the bad thing happen to George and Lennie.
Lennie is big but he has a baby's heart, I'm sure he doesn't mean to kill anyone. He likes to touch soft things, but he often kill soft animals by mistake. That made his bro George kill him in the end. I think both George and Lennie are painful, especially George. He was made to kill his bro and he has no chance. I think this shows the twisty and ruthless society during the Depression era.
Although this story isrn't interesting than the Westing Game or The Outsiders, it is still a successful book.
