Homework for Part 2: Of Mice and Men

James' Homework:

A short review of ((Of Mice and Men))

First, this story happened in the 1930s in a farm in California. The farm is called Soledad. And I think this is the worst name I have ever heard. I think the word Soledad sounds like"soul dead". People in my hometown often say"You can be killed, your deadbody can be rotted. But your soul must living in this world forever." But this farm is called "Soledad", so I think this is the worst name I've ever heard. In my opinion, a person without soul is even useless than Solomon Grundy. If my memory is correct, soledad means indifference and dismal in Spainish. So that is another reason why I hate this name. And it indicates the bad thing happen to George and Lennie.

Lennie is big but he has a baby's heart, I'm sure he doesn't mean to kill anyone. He likes to touch soft things, but he often kill soft animals by mistake. That made his bro George kill him in the end. I think both George and Lennie are painful,especially George. He was made to kill his bro and he has no chance. I think this shows the twisty and ruthless society during the Depression era. 

Although this story isrn't interesting than the Westing Game or The Outsiders, it is still a successful book.

Characters:

I think in each function the most important part is characters. Maybe you some times for get the story for this book, but maybe you still can remembered the characters of this book. In this book-----Of Mice And Men .the mean characters are George and Lennie. George is king like a real men, he can undertake for his life and take care of some one need help. George helped Lennie and him self to find a job, when Lennie have some trouble, George always tolerate to Lennie and he didn`t say anything. But if some time Lennie does some bad things that he can change to a good way, George was always remind to Lennie.Lennie is another mean character of this book. Lennie was very different with George. He is just like a boy, he always do some things like a child. But he has a very special place in this story.

Tony:

This is a story about a men and his friend. In the story, I found George always help Lennie even Lennie is more foolish than normal. But he always complains with Lennie and scolds Lennie. Why George still goes and works with Lennie? 

And I don’t understand about the title of this book. I don’t think the mice mean the mouse in first ten pages. So what mean the “mice” in this book.
