Leo's Homework:

. Discuss the concept of writing with your personality showing through, often called “narrative voice.”  What is Christopher’s narrative style like?

When I was trying to write a narrative story, I will try to make it interesting and I will try to make its personality strong and clear. I knew people will be interested by this and I will get popular. However, Christopher’s narrative voice shocked me and also turned my perspective of writing a story.

Christopher wrote his stories in a unique way. Although it seems that he was talking about this and talking about things that look totally irrelevant to the story, you could find some interesting relationship with the stories he told and the main story line which is finding the culprit of killing the dog. For example, he talks about Holmes story, it is relevant because he was trying to detect who killed the dog and this helps him to infer more information that he needs.

Christopher also likes to add some small pieces of his daily life into stories. We called them junks and no need to write, but he used them as a similar way he used to his little stories. We could see from the story, when he saw yellow cars and red cars; he used all of these pieces to foreshadow the truth that would be told by Mrs. Alexander about his mother and Mr. Shears. He is very smart, and shows intelligence in these pieces.

In conclusion, Christopher ingeniously used the techniques of narrating small pieces which teachers even called as junk to illustrate a big thing. Overall, it was a great technique of narrative voice and I might use it in the future.
