For homework, please read the first half of The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe. Start from the beginning (in the black book this is page 109) and please read until page 120. You can stop reading at "The result was discoverable, he added, in that silent, yet importunate and terrible influence which for centuries had moulded the destinies of his family, and which made him what I now saw him—what he was. Such opinions need no comment, and I will make none." This quote comes in the long paragraph after the 6 verses.
If you would rather read this on a screen than on paper, you can get the text from this website. It also has a version that you can listen to while someone speaks the story!

As writing homework, we are writing about The Tell-Tale Heart in at least 300 words.
Assume you are the lawyer trying to put our narrator in jail for killing the old man. You need to convince the jury that the protagonist (our narrator) is not simply crazy, but in fact a cold, hard, calculating killer. Being creative, imagine what could be his "real" motive for killing the old man and write a report. Use as many details as you can as well as descriptive language, like similes (His heart is LIKE ice) and metaphors (His heart IS ice).
