Please read p. 118-154 (Chapters 20-24) of The Westing Game.
Write a response to the following and send it to my email at least one hour before class starts (250 word minimum response):
- Many of The Westing Game's characters are trapped by the way their bodies look--beauty, ordinariness, or a disability; so it's their struggle to define themselves outside of their appearances that makes them who they really are. Discuss this with specific examples of characters and how they try to define themselves.
Translate the excerpt on p.145 in Ch. 23 beginning “O beautiful for spacious skies…” ending “From sea to shining sea.” Translate it into Chinese and then back into English. This may be a challenge, because most of it is an old fashioned song (called "America the Beautiful").
