Great work analyzing the characters and the setting today! For next week, please read
p. 39-79 (Chapters 8-13) of The Westing Game.
1. Research the author, Ellen Raskin. Be prepared to share what you learned in class next week. We will discuss Raskin’s motivation to write The Westing Game. Check out this website: http://ccbc.education.wisc.edu...hors/raskin/main.htm
2. Write your own will and send it to my email at least one hour before class. What kinds of possessions would you be concerned about, and to whom would you want to leave your things? (This does not have to be as long or strange as Mr. Westing's will!)
3. Translate the excerpt on p. 61 of Ch. 10 beginning with “Angela rushed into Judge Ford's kitchen...” ending with “Sandy was the only one in this dumb building she could talk to.” Translate it into Chinese. Then, looking at your Chinese translation, translate it back into English using your own words.
Since this book has many new words, you can create your own vocabulary journal as you read. It helps to record the page number, the sentence the word is in, and the definition of the word. You can do this with as many words as you would like.
For your vocab journal, here is the new vocabulary we went over today:
- Heir
- Will
- Details
- Setting
Have fun reading!
