Respond to the following and send it in email or post on the forum (250 words minimum):

Katie makes frequent lists: lists of what she wants, of how she feels, of what she should do. How does making lists help her? (Examples: Ch 2 p.19, Ch 3 p.40, Ch. 13 p.198 & 199)

Lynn’s last night was a rough one. When she finally fell asleep, Katie took the opportunity to sit outside in the peace and quiet of the early morning. She made a mental list of the things she heard and the things she saw. Spend ten minutes outside your classroom or your house. Make a detailed and very descriptive list of what you see and hear

Translate the paragraph on p.233 that begins “Mr. Lyndon came in. My father and I stood up.”

And just for your records, here are your lovely haikus that you wrote in class!

Lola: the wind is so soft,

just like you are always with me,

staying with my heart

like the seawaves,

you are always kira-kira,

shining forever

Shirley: Sea slaps to the cliff

the lighthouse shining and shining,

all in a cold evening

Very nicely done!

Lola's Homework:

Question 1
Katie made different kinds of lists. There are lists about the view, the things that they cannot find, the things that Katie missed and the things she saw and heard. Making lists helps her get to know what everything was going on.This can help her to have a clear mind.So when she thought of "why everything happened?",she might find out the answers in her lists. And also, she wrote things down just like Lynn kept her diary so even though years passed ,she could still look at the lists and remember all the things that happened in the pass. Everyone will forget things when the ages increase, but the words will never get lost.So it can record the wonderful moments that will only appear once. It might also be a way to remember the time with Lynn and the things they done together for Katie's whole life.
My own lists:
Here are the sounds i heard:
1.the rain slapping on the window
2.the cars rushing all over the narrow road
3.some people whispering in a low voice
4.the voice of the person in tv
5.some footballer shouting loudly
Here are the things i saw
1.a large football field with only a few lights on
2.a long sidewalk with trees' branches waving in the wind
3.a dark, black sky that can hardly see any clouds
4.a guard passing by
5.people are walking into and coming out of the mall

Shirley's Homework:

Katie makes frequent lists: lists of what she wants, of how she feels, of what she should do. How does making lists help her?

I think frequent list help Katie to remember thing happen to her, to be more organized and calm. She can remember the happy memories or the sad memories. I think the frequent list is important to her. It like a part to her, she had a habit to write anything in the frequent list if she think that is important.

It can let Katie know, the funny thing in her childhood. Every grown people think about their childhood they will feel happiness and maybe a little miss about their childhood?

Maybe time past, when Katie look at it again she will remember all the things she had done in her childhood, maybe sad story or happy story. The list just remind her these things are true they are in your life. Look back, look at the young girl before. How she was sad, how she was happy, how she was angry.

The list jut shows us a girl--Katie. All her personality are in the list.  The List let her to remember something she want to do. What she feel. And at last how she done with it. Become a more calm and organized. Become more happy and optimistic.
