For homework, please finish reading the book!

Then, complete the Venn diagram template that I am sending you over email.
Remember how we've discussed that "Bridge to Terabithia" tells a story about a friendship of two individuals who are both similar and different from each other.  These differences and similarities make a friendship that is very strong.  Using the Venn diagram, share your ideas about how the author compares and contrasts Jess and Leslie.

Also, please translate the paragraph on page 153, beginning with "'OK, May Belle.’  The words came out more steadily..." until "'OK,' he said. 'Now back up.'"  Translate this into Chinese, knowing that you will translate the Chinese into English during class.

Lastly, make 1-3 sentences using some of the following new words:

  • Any words from the sentence on page 116: "Dread lay on Jess's stomach like a hunk of cold, undigested doughnut."
  • Laid off (page 102)
  • Scrape [together money] (page 100)
  • Committed [a wrong or a crime] (page 109)

Have fun, and see you next week!

I like the pure friendship between Jess and Leslie, although they did not have a happy ending. They both like running, they thought that running might free themselves. The beatiful story started with this sport.Through running they know each other more and become friend. They both did not have many friends, because Jess liked painting rather than some sports, and Leslie did not have TV in her house. As others could not understand them, they created Therabithia together, which is a secret place for two people. They are both sensitive. When other girls laughed at Leslie, this brave girl cried alone. Jess wrote football as his favoriate sport. Of course, they had abundant imagination, so that they creat Therabithia.

However, Leslie lived in city and her family was rich. She did not care about money, but Jess did. Jess did not understand why she said money is not important. Leslie's parents cared for her so much, but Jess's parents always thought that he was a bad boy who just knowing how to paint. Also Leslie was brave and confident, however Jess was quite timid. That may be because Jess did not be prised much. When they wanted to talk to Janise, Jess did not brave enough to face her. Also, Jess had someone he liked, but Leslie have not.

Even though, they had some differences, what made their friendship firm is their pure heart.

Because they both like running, so it's easy for author to write the process how they meet and become friends. Leslie was an extrovert but as the time go past, Leslie used her active attitude influenced Jess. They had the same hobby and they were all kind so Jess and Leslie could have more topics to talk with each other.

From the City: bold--extrovert--talkative--well educated--quite rich

They are both imaginative: They all like running/They are all kind

From a rural area: timid--introvert--quite poor

1)A hunk of stone was falling from the mountain.

2) I have been enough, the food is undigested.

3)I saw a man scraped up a coin beneath the soil.
