Here are the words and phrases that we discussed during class!  Please use at least three in sentences.  Don't be afraid to write with the words that are still unfamiliar to use--I can help you determine how to use them correctly!

  • Skim the pages (or skim through a book/page)
  • "Some" used as a praise (you're some pig/some swimmer!)
  • Irony
  • Scared (This is scary/I am scared)
  • Crunchy
  • Preshrunk (shrink/shrunk)
  • To civilly say something
  • Break it up
  • Tattered
  • Orchard
  • Discarded/to discard
  • Regard

Have fun!

Great job, Kitty.  There are just a few corrections we can discuss to make these sentences absolutely perfect!

1. The word irony is used as a noun, so when you want to use it as a word that describes another word (adjective), "irony" turns into "ironic."  So you could say "ironic sentence."

2. The word "tattered" is also an adjective, so instead of being an action word (a verb), it is going to describe: The dog made my bag all tattered.

3.  An apple orchard is like a farm, so you can count how many farms or orchards you like.  That means you could like "the" or "this" apple orchard, or you could like "five" apple orchards!

If you want to further understand these words, you can try some new sentences with them and we can go over them as well!
