This is very well written, and I don't know why the post is cutting off ends of words. I think you will have a great time when go to America for exactly the reasons you mention. But I think, hope, you will be less sad than you imagine.

It's much easier to keep in touch these days than it used to be, and you will be able to call your mother and grandparents. I think, too, you might find food you like to eat. A lovely piece of work, well-written and showing real heart.
