In the story Many Moons, there were four smart characters that helped the King get everything he wanted. There were three characters that were really typical, the Lord High Chamberlain, the Royal Wizard and the Court Jester. The Lord High Chamberlain and the Royal Wizard thought the moon was too far to get and too big to put it in the palace. They thought they would never get the moon. Their perspectives were rational and rigid.

The Court Jester was different from the Lord High Chamberlain and the Royal Wizard. He thought in a different way. He asked Princess Lenore first to figure out the contour and the material of the moon. His perspective was creative and innovative.

When the King realized that the moon was still in the sky but Princess Lenore had one moon, he asked the Lord High Chamberlain and the Royal Wizard for help. The Lord Chamberlain and the Royal Wizard wanted to hide the moon or make Princess Lenore "blind". Their purposes were making Princess Lenore think the moon was in her hand but not in the sky. Their perspectives were inappropriate and a little bit ridiculous.

The Court Jester was different again. He pretended to be confused and curious and he asked Princess Lenore the reason that the moon was still in the sky. He thought outside the box. His perspectives was comprehensive and ingenius.
