Next class (Friday 1/16), we will start a new book called The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes.

1) Please read until page 18 (Chapters 1 and 2) of the book before class.

2) Also, please answer the question in 1 paragraph (5-6 sentences):

Imagine a letter that Shirley would write to Fourth Cousin, in China, about her first year of living in America.

-What would she say?

-What has she learned?

-What does she still want to do, and what concerns might she still have for the future?

Write a short paragraph in Shirley’s “voice” expressing her thoughts.

Great response, Shirley! It seems that Shirley Temple Wong grew a lot during her time in America: her English improved and she learned about a famous baseball player!
