Homework for Class #26: Jacob Have I Loved

Hello!

For homework, please finish reading Jacob Have I Loved.

Then, please choose between these two options for your writing assignment:

1. Add another chapter to the novel that either explains what happens when Louise goes to Rass Island to fetch her mother or explains what happened to the main character or characters later in life.

2. No one spoke at the funeral service for Auntie Braxton. The preacher did a "routine service" for her. Write a eulogy (a speech honoring someone's life) for Auntie Braxton from the point of view of Louise, Caroline, Call, or the Captain. (Ch. 14 p.182)

1.Years passed. We all lived a happy life--me, Joseph,Caroline, Call and mothers. Caroline and Call are still in New York. Caroline finally succeeded in music after years of working and studying hard. And mother also stayed for some time with them as they got their first baby! It seemed that they put all their energy and love into this little baby, and I was sure that little angel will also grow into a person like her mother. For me, I was still nursing in Catholic, and as years pass, I became understand of what my parents did to me and Caroline. No matter who was the one that got more attention, they still loved us the same. Our children grew up happily and I was satisfied that they seemed to love and care each other very much. Now mother was staying with us now, After seeing the modern buildings, she was happy to find a place to let herself relaxed. I was greatful for every single day in my life now, and I hoped it would contined and lasted for ever.

2.For Janet's question:

It is hard to imagine what will happen if their lives are changed. Life is just like a magic show, there are too many things that we can't prevent. Even a little different will cause a big change. Well in my opinion, maybe their lives will be totally different. As all we know that parents usually pay more attention to the little ones, and Caroline is more beautiful and more talent. So if Wheeze has Caroline's body and her own mind and sprits as well, she will succeed with no doubt, because Wheeze has a strong mind that she is determined to do the things and the aims that she wants to achieve, she is more independed than Caroline as well so she can fit every situation. But on the other hand, Wheeze has her valuable sprits is also because of what happened to her, so if they change places, Wheeze might not wanted to go out of this little island that much, so maybe her life will just like normal people staying in the island and raising her children. Although this kind of life isn't as good as the life of the outside world, it will also has another kind of happiness. So what kind of person you are and what kind of life you live depends on two important parts--personality and circumstance.

May be I will add a passage about the thing that Louise want to say to the readers. She may talked about why she dislike Caroline so much and why she want to change this life. I may give them another story about it For example I may write about Louise got a very good chance to show how good she was front of the people but Caroline just took it away. She may felt very angry and decided to change her life that time. I will also write about Louise talk about how hard when she tried to let herself become important. May be a day Louise want to go out and play with her family but Caroline just want to stay at home, Louise tried very hard to persuade her mom to go out and play. Her mother just changed her mind because Caroline’s words:”I am tried and I feel a little sick,too.”So maybe I won’t tried that hard to explain the life about Caroline and Louise, I just want the story because more touching.
I think maybe Life will change if they have their sister’s personalities and characters, because everyone loves Caroline because she is the younger one and she always get sick. But she is still talented and beautiful, everyone will get surprised because of that. If their first mind is Caroline is good and Louise...Who’s that? Then it is hard for Louise to change the other people’s mind. For example When every time Louise did something awesome, people just think about: Oh, she can do it very well just because she is the older one, she must does things perfectly, in fact maybe they will see how good Caroline did, because she is talented and beautiful in people’s mind, she must be perfect, if she did something wrong, there must be a mistake or it is OK, she is just a little girl, it is also good for her even she can’t did it very well.So when people had their first feelings about someone, that’s hard to chance so maybe when Louise first gives them a good feelings and makes them surprised, they will also ignore Caroline and focus on Louise more.
