For homework, please read chapters 14 and 15, pages 176-210.

Then, respond to this question with an essay.  Be creative!

Louise discusses how children on Rass have a tough time outliving their childhoods. All the elders still recall and talk about the time “little” Buddy Rankin had a bad ear infection even though Buddy is now a dad and has two children of his own. This makes Louise wonder what people will remember about her 20-30 years from now. What do you think people will remember you for? Imagine you are having a 25 year reunion with your current classmates. What will they remember about you? Write a speech for one of your classmates to make sharing their memories of you.

Last, please prepare 2 discussion questions that you can ask your classmates.

Have fun!

Lola's Homework:

Dear classmates:
How time flies! 25 years ago we were still a middle school student in Guangzhou, wearing the same uniform, the same school shoes, taking the same school bags and having the same haircut--and that was my first time to cut my long hair short! After graduating from school, we went to different places and lived a different life. It seemed that we were each others passengers, it was life that made us taking the same car for 3 years, but we finally got off at the determination.
But today, we get together again after 25 years! And I think that no word in this world is able to describe the happiness now I feel. Lots of memories go through my mind, but first of all  I 'd like to talk about my best friend--Lola now.
Lola is the monitor of our class at that time. You might think that she was very strict, but as her friend I know that she was a out-going and easy-going girl instead. Although most of the time she was strict because she needed to get this class in order, in her free time she was just a normal warm-hearted girl just like you and me. Remember at the last sport meeting, she hurt her leg and wasn't able to take part in the competition. Most of you encouraged her and told her that it was okay, but that night she told me that she was very sorry because she couldn't help our class to get a better score. At the end, we were the champion, but she still regretted for a long time.
This happened long time ago but I still remember it clearly. I think everyone was like a little star in the sky, although we aren't that bright, we are trying our best to shining. She isn't perfect, but she is making efforts to be a sparking star of herself.
 Thank you for listening.
 Yours,
 Pucca.

Janet:

J: Janet. M:Martin.
J: Hey, guy! Long time no see! I've been graduated from the middle school 25 years! What did you do these years?
M:Nothing special. I just finished my study. The subject I studied in college is Financial management so I'm working in a company, as a secretary. How about you? I heard that you went to the US to study, How was that?
J:That was great! I was interested in biology so I decided to learn more about it. After I finished college, I enrolled in the doctoral degree. I am a biologist now! I love my job, I think it is fun! Oh! I heard you engaged with a girl these days.
M:Yeah! We will marry in next week! Would you like to attend our wedding?
J: Sure! I'd like to come! I want to see the beautiful bride!
M:Haha! How about you? Did you get married these years?
Jf course! I married to a very handsome guy! We loved each other very much!
M:That's great! Oh, what time is it?
J: It is six o'clock now. In that case, do you wanna have dinner with me? We can talk about more things when we are having dinner! I wanna know what our other classmates do these years!
M:That's nice! Let's go!
