In the epilogue to A Long Walk to Water, Salva Dut offers advice to his readers. He tells the young people to stay calm when things aren't going well. If you persevere instead of quitting, you can go through it. Salva Dut certainly has had enough experinece on which to base his advice. When he was in South Sudan going to Ethiopia, his parents and brother were not found. His uncle was killed. He had no family at that time. He almost wanted to die. But he knew that his family wanted him to live. So he persevered and he succeeded at last.
