Great Cindy, You definitely understand how to use similes to help readers better understand an experience. I really like your being "so mad you felt like a lion that had lost his prey" and being so happy you left "like a cat that had found a lot of fish." My favorite, though, is your simile for what your room looks like when you don't clean it, "like a place where pigs live." I think this simile has been used by mothers everywhere, the world over.

I will send you some notes on English usage via e-mail, but you did a great job coming up with similes that fit the experience and make it memorable for readers. Best, Laraine
