Great first class today to discuss The Summer of the Swans.  For next week, please read chapters 6-9 (pages 26-48).

Then, write an essay discussing this question:
  • One of Sara’s struggles is to care for her little brother Charlie. This would usually be the responsibility of the parents. As a teenager, is this responsiblity too large? How is she dealing with it? (maybe check examples from page 33, 35.) Can you also describe any moments from the book that prove how much she cares about Charlie?
You can send me your essay answer before class next week.  Let me know if you have any questions.
