Assignment: Please finish reading Lon Po Po

Forum Assignment: Please describe one of your favorite fairy tales, making sure to include the title. After you describe it, explain what you think is the point of the fairy tale. Then explain what it is a about the fairy tale that you like.

Example

One of my favorite fairy tales is called “The Musicians of Bremen” or “Bremen Town Musicians.” It tells the story of four animals: a dog, a donkey, a rooster, and a cat. All of them are old and afraid their owners are going to get rid of them. So they decide to run away and become musicians because they can all make really loud sounds. On their way to Bremen where musicians were welcome, they came across a little house. In the house lived robbers who had lots of good food and drink. To scare the robbers off, the four animals began to crow, meow, bray, and bark all together. The robbers were so scared they ran away leaving the nice house to the four old animals who lived happily ever after.

I think that the point of the story is this: If people—or animals—can stick together, they can find a way to make their lives better, just like the four musicians from Bremen. I think I like this story so much because I really like animals. I like the idea that if no humans want to take care of them, the animals can take care of themselves. If only that were true.

Alfonso's Homework:

My favorite fairy tale is “The Adventure of Pinocchio”. Pinocchio was a puppet made by an old carpenter from a piece of wood that can talk. The old man liked the puppet very much and treated it like a real boy, so he named it Pinocchio. One day, Pinocchio saw a theater on his way to school. He sold his school boos to buy a ticket and went to the show instead of school. The owner of the theater gave Pinocchio five gold coins. When Pinocchio went home, he met a cat and a fox. The two animals wanted to steal Pinocchio’s coins. But Pinocchio hid the coins in his mouth and did not give them his money. So they hung him on the tree. A fairy saved Pinocchio, and asked him why he did not go to school. He lied to the fairy, and his nose became longer. Finally he told the truth and his nose changed back to normal.

This story teaches me a lesson that is be honest and do not lie. I also think Pinocchio was very smart and brave because when the cat and the fox wanted to steal his coins, he was not scared and did not give up. This also tells me not to give up easily when we are in difficulty.

The Three Little Pigs

writer.Elsa

One of my favorite fairy tales is called “The Three Little Pigs” . It tells the story of three pigs: pig1,pig2and pig3. All of them are lazy.Oneday their mother said to them”You had  grown up ,you must to build a house by yourselves later on .”So the three pigs left home .The pig1 built up a house with straws. The pig2 built a house with woods. The pig3 made a house with stones. One day the wolf came. They ran into the house which they built by themselves. The wolf came in front of the pig1’s home and began to blew .The straw hut was easily destroyed.Pig1 ran into Pig2’s house. The wolf knocked at the door and tried to blow a wind, but the wood house was well. Then the wolf pushed it and collapsed it.The pig1 and pig2 ran into the pig3’s  home quickly. The wolf came again and began to blow and push, but the house was all right. The wolf got so angry and came behind the stone house. The wolf went in through the chimney .The three pigs put much water in the cauldrons and had it boiled. Then when the wolf jumped down from the chimney ,he fell into the boiling water and died. The three pigs had a very happy life ever after. They had never laziedafter that.

I think that the point of the story is this: Even animals or person, one’s strength is limited, they must stick together. As children we should help our parents do some chores at home.Don’t lazy! I think I like this story  because I really like animals, such as pigs ,dogs ,cats or other animals.I have a dog ,his name was “Duoduo” ,he was one of my good friends. But it was losed five years ago.I miss it for ever.I want to have a little pig which likes Wilbur  in a novel named “Charlott’sWeb”.Do you love it,too?

@Alfonso. This is just terrific. You fulfilled the assignment exactly as I asked, and the writing is REALLY good. Pinocchio is one of my favorites too. Have you ever seen a film of it? What's interesting to is how the images of Pinocchio can vary. I have attached three: One may well be the original from the story by Carlo Collodi. The other is the Disney version and one is a mean Pinocchio.

I will e-mail with some other smaller comments and the photos just in case you can't get on the forum yet.

@Elsa, I loved your telling of "The Three Little Pigs." I had forgotten how hard the ending is on the wolf though.

You told the story beautifully and I think you are exactly right about the point of the story.

I am reading Charlotte's Web right now.I had not read it before, and I love it.  Wilbur is a wonderful character. Right now, I am at the part where he escapes and tries to run away. I feel terrible about his being so lonely. Pigs are very social creatures. I hope the story has a happy ending.

I do have a dog. I have attached a photo of him. His name is Walter. I will send it to you as well, just in case you still can't get on the forum.

I was very sorry to hear about your dog and how you miss him. Pets do become like members of the family and it's hard to lose them. I know that all too well.

Again, I really enjoyed your telling of the story.  Laraine

The monkey fishing of the moon One of my favorite fairy tales is called "monkey fishing of the moon" It tells the story of:One of monkey see the moon of in water,he call every monkey to fishing this moon. They one by one from tree to the water, they fishing again and again, but is not can take it.Suddenly a little monkey said the moon is not in water is on the sky !all of monkey look at sky,oh yes it is,the moon is on the sky. I think that the point of the story is this: we should have brains, think seriously, careful observation,do not like monkeys fancy!we must work with the right goal,or we will fail!

Jackie's Homework:

Sorry for late homework.

One of my favorite fairy tales is called “The Giant’s Garden”. It tells a story of the giant and the children. Every afternoon, the children came to the giant's garden and played, but one day, the giant came back and saw the children playing in his garden, the giant was angry, and he said: “get out of my garden, faster!” All the children run away. Spring has come, but the giant’s garden was still winter, the giant was so surprised why the spring didn’t come. One morning, the children went into the giant’s garden to play again. Suddenly, the giant saw the spring come to his garden, but he was so angry for the children’s noise, so he want to drive away the children again, all the children run away, soon the spring was disappeared and snow falling in the sky, the giant understood that his garden didn’t have happy and fun.

I think that the point of the story is this: we can’t be selfish, if we are selfish we will not have any friends and happy. I think I like this fairy tale so much because I learned how I should do with others in real life.

@Jackie

I never heard about the story. It's lovely. I love the message in it. I am going to see if I can find it on the Web.

Your writing is excellent. I will write you about a couple of things, but on the whole, you write very well in English.  I am glad you were able to do the assignment. I understand that sometimes it is hard to get it done on time. The important thing is that you did it because writing is all about practice, practice, practice.  Best, Laraine
